About Lynn
My name is Lynn. I was born in a small town in Georgia in 1978. I am the youngest of four children. I have two brothers and a sister who are all more than a decade older than me, although we have both the same mom and dad. My parents also fostered when I was small, so I have lots of foster siblings floating around the country.
I like to think I'm fairly intelligent. I did well in school and have always been well respected in my jobs. I started college after I graduated, but left after attending for 2 years. I started back to university in January 2009 and am attending classes online working towards my BA in Social Sciences with an education concentration. I hope to be a teacher one day. I'd like to teach either history or literature to high school students.
I'm married to an amazing guy named Rich who I met online in a Yahoo Music Chat Room in 2000. After chatting online, talking on the phone and visiting back and forth for 2 years, we married in November 2002. Rich is from England, so in June before we married in November, I went to England and spent the ensuing 6 months with him in the UK. Once we were married, I obtained a visa to the UK and moved there with him. We lived in England until 2006 when we moved to the USA. If you’re interested, you can read more about that here.
We have an awesomely cute dog named Isabel who is currently our only baby. We love her dearly! She has fulfilled a special place in our lives we never knew was empty. She immigrated with us from the UK.
I am a crafting fanatic! I love to scrapbook, crochet, cross-stitch and make cards. I dabble in jewelry making a bit, but I'm not great at it. I was given a sewing machine for Christmas last year by my mom and I hope to get better at sewing so that I can make clothing for our children when we have them and also make other things for our home and gifts for friends and family. I've also dabbled in graphic design but it is another of those things I'm not fantastic at and would like to practice more at. If I could have a job from home working with any of these projects, I would be in heaven! However, as much as I love these things, I don't have a lot of time to work on any of them.
Another joy of mine is cooking. I am a certified Line Cook and Catering Specialist, but I would not want to do it as a job. I just love to be in the kitchen baking cakes and cookies or trying out a new entree for Rich and I. I love to receive new recipes and I'm always more than willing to share what I have.
I love to read. I enjoy mysteries and chick lit, thought-provoking novels and a really good teen lit book. My favorite authors are Patricia Cornwell, Mary Higgins Clark, Joanna Fluke, Jennifer Cruisie, Marian Keyes, Sophie Kinsella, Jodi Piccoult, Alice Sebold, J.K. Rowling and Stephenie Meyer. Yes, I proudly admit to being a victim of the Twilight phenomenon. I am completely in love with Edward Cullen and I'll even admit to having a slight crush on Rob Pattinson (who, I might add, is 7 years my junior). My husband doesn't mind (I look the other way when he drools over Eliza Dushku), so I don't see it as a bad thing!
One of my great passions in life is singing and music is such a great influence in everything I do! While I enjoy most genres of music, my favorite is classic rock. My favorite musicians are Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, The Who and The Doors. On a more modern note, I also enjoy the Black-Eyed Peas, Fergie (solo), Gwen Stefani, Adele, Duffy, Sophie Ellis Bexter, Maroon 5, Matchbox 20 and Keith Urban. As you can tell, I'm not picky about the genre as long as the music is good! The best gift my husband has ever given me (aside from himself when we married) was for our first wedding anniversary. He outdid himself with front row, center stage tickets to see Fleetwood Mac perform in Newcastle England! Seeing as the Mac are my all-time favorite band, he could not have found a better gift.
Another hobby I hope to do more of soon is traveling. I adore visiting new places and would do it for a living if I could. Its another great way Rich and I are compatible: we both adore traveling! My travels are fairly limited to date (Washington, D.C., England, overnighted in Amsterdam and Chicago), but I hope to add to them one day!
The other bit of information about me that makes me the individual I am is that I was diagnosed in September 2008 with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition that affects my hormones and reproductive abilities, and insulin resistance. I take medication to control the insulin resistance and we are undergoing fertility treatment to produce a family of our own. My biggest goal in life is to become a mother. I long for the day when Rich, Isabel and I will cuddle our newest member of the family. Stay tuned to this space for that announcement when it happens!
